For Brain Injury Prevention Month, The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor Ministerial Statement focused on Parachute’s work in concussion awareness, prevention, treatment, and management.
“The Government of Canada is currently supporting Parachute Canada in the development of return-to-school and return-to-sport concussion protocols, based on the Canadian Guideline on Concussion in Sport. These protocols will guide athletes, parents, coaches, teachers, trainers and licensed healthcare professionals in supporting children and youth recovering from a concussion, helping them to return safely to school and play.” ( from the Ministerial Statement, June 2018)
The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, praises Parachute’s leadership.
“Thanks to the leadership of Parachute Canada, coaches, teachers, parents and athletes will have access to tools to help them prevent, recognize and manage concussions at all levels of sport. I am proud of the efforts made by the sport community so far and I encourage all of us to keep moving forward on this important issue.” (Statement, June 8, 2018).
